Planning a trip to the areaPotrero beach in Guanacaste of Costa Rica?  Well you won’t have to worry about finding a restaurant.  From the moment you turn off the main road from Flamingo heading towards Potrero, you will encounter at least 10 different eateries.  All of which, have something for everyone.

Along the journey, first up is the Beach House.  A family friendly place that even hosts a kids “clubhouse” for the little ones to hang out while the adults kick back and enjoy a few drinks, a great meal and an even better sunset.  Situated along the bay of Potrero, the Beach House allows you watch the beautiful evening unfold all while filling up on delicious foods.  A little further on the road heading to Potrero proper, you will find El Castillo, or as the locals call it, The Castle.  Looking just like a castle, one can find a variety of foods to entice your palette, not to mention an incredible friendly and helpful staff inside.

Once you round the corner a few 100 feet on the right sits the Shack.  With a laid back atmosphere, one of the perks the Shack offers is free coffee all day.  However, don’t just stop in for the coffee, have a fantastic breakfast or lunch while there.  The Shack is one who also offers a variety of vegan and gluten free choices for those with a dietary restriction or preference.  On the left you’ll encounter La Perlas.  A staple in the community for many, many years, “Perlas” hosts great food daily and entertainment weekly.

If you’re looking for some good old downhome barbeque and blues music, make sure you visit the Smokin’ Pig.  Opening every day except Tuesday at 5 p.m., The “Pig” as the locals lovingly refer to it, will serve up some of the best ribs, chicken and brisket you can eat this far south.

Although only 5 of the approximately 10 restaurants have been highlighted, Potrero won’t disappoint you when it comes to some great food choices in the area.
